In the fall of 2008, Affiliated Services for Children and Youth (ASCY) was approached by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) and asked to support seven Early Learning Programs in Ontario in the implementation of the Ontario Early Learning Framework (OELF). Through the mentoring of the early learning centres in the implementation of the Ontario Early Learning Framework, numerous resources and workshops were developed. Throughout 2009 and 2010, ASCY was approached by many communities throughout Ontario to present these workshops and share the resources to support the implementation of the Ontario Early Learning Framework.
To help communities support the Early Learning programs in their area and to provide those communities with the learning stories, resources and lessons learned through the mentorship of many programs in the implementation of the Ontario Early Learning Framework, ASCY has developed the Save the Day for Play Program: Train the Trainer and Mentor.
The Save the Day for Play Program compiles all the workshops and resources including the Save the Day for Play software program into the Train-the-Trainer Manual and accompanying memory sticks. Through the train-the-trainer training, participants will be able to mentor Early Learning practitioners in the implementation of the Ontario Early Learning Framework into an Early Learning program using the workshops, resources and software developed by ASCY.
