Area Networks
Early Learning and Child Care Programs, Preschools, Co-operative Preschools,
Licensed Home Child Care Agencies and Ontario Early Years Centres have
been grouped into five geographic areas. The goal is to increase opportunities
for networking and accessible professional development for early learning
and child care supervisors and staff. Professional development events
and meetings are hosted in the neighbourhoods by early learning and child
care programs.
- Area One: lower East Hamilton (east of Kenilworth)
and Upper and Lower Stoney Creek.
- Area Two: lower Hamilton from Main Street through
to Kenilworth.
- Area Three: on the Mountain, east of Garth Street
to Dartnall Road.
- Area Four: on the mountain, west of Garth street
and Ancaster.
- Area Five: Dundas, Flamborough and Waterdown.
Each Area Network has three to four leaders who have volunteered to
take a lead in planning the meetings and to communicate with others in
the network. ASCY’s role is to provide administrative support to
the Area Leaders. A member of the ASCY Professional Development Team is
also available to co-facilitate Area Network events.
Getting Connected
- When information about a new program or service is entered into the
ASCY database, it is automatically linked to an Area Network. The program’s
director or supervisor will then receive mailed information about upcoming
events and meetings.
- E-mail groups and phone trees are being developed to further support
communication among Area Network participants. To join the group e-mail
for your area, send a message to lsaunders@ascy.ca.
- Area Network event information is also posted on this website.
